Green Tea
Green tea is extracted from the leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis. Unlike black tea, which is also made from this tea plant, the leaves are not oxidized or fermented. That means, they are heated as soon as they are harvested to inactivate their enzymes. The gentle heating of the fresh leaves preserves many active substances. The tea plant and its preparations originate from China, where green tea, in addition to its use as a beverage, has been known as a medicinal herbal for several thousand years.
The ingredients of green tea
Green tea contains valuable phytochemicals. These include polyphenols, in particular flavonoids (catechins) such as epicatechin, epicatechin gallate, epigallocatechin and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).These components are also often called tannins and cause the tea to have a bitter taste. Grün Tee-Extrakt Dr. Wolz contains standardised dosages of the polyphenols or catechins or EGCG meaning that the product can be used systematically. For Grün Tee-Extrakt Dr. Wolz an extract is being used, of which the caffeine level is below one percent.
